Unlikely Inspiration
One of my favorite things to do is to sit and watch Instagram Stories. Not just any stories though, I usually skip the ones of people rambling on and on about nothing. Do you ever ask yourself what the heck are they talking about?! LOL But what I do love and I mean LOVE are Fashion Bloggers who are showing off the latest trends, styles and deals.
I seriously watch them every day and it has quickly become a moment in my day that I look forward to.
Why am I sitting here telling you about my slight obsession with fashion and social media? Because I am in awe. In awe of these amazing women, many of whom are moms themselves and way younger than I am.
I am in awe of how they are able to just put themselves out there daily, take risks and pursue a passion that from the outside looking in seems to be lucrative for them. It almost feels like they are effortlessly chasing a dream.
I am also a little envious. You see, I have a burning desire to be an “influencer of sorts”. While I am still not 100% sure exactly what that looks like, I feel this calling to become someone who uplifts, supports, motivates, encourages and styles women to be the best version of themselves.
I want to help women who are in the prime of their lives trying to manage it all, feel like they are winning at life with style and grace.
To me, that sounds like a dream! Merging my love of coaching with my love of fashion and helping other moms regain their sparkle? SIGN ME UP. I actually can’t believe I just admitted that out loud to you all!
So why am I not fully doing that?
Why am I not there yet?
Ever ask yourself that question about your life? Is there something you really want to do or have happen but you can’t seem to get yourself going to achieve it?
The Major Difference Between Us
It got me thinking about what makes these women who are “influencers” any different from people like you or me. What makes them so unique and special that they have thousands of followers, collaborations with major brands, opportunities to build brand empires and success?
Is it their style? Their business savvy? The connections they have?
Nope. No. And Nope again.
What I realized is that it all boils down to one thing. And one thing only.
They are all taking MASSIVE action. They are not playing dress up and snapping pictures and then not sharing them online. They are not drafting live videos in their head and then never going live to actually share their thoughts.
No, they are spending hours and hours planning content, building looks, writing blogs, seeking out partnerships and basically working their asses off to have this “influence”.
I have a great friend, Melyssa who is seriously dominating her direct sales wine business. She runs Positively Wines and sells Scout and Cellar Clean Crafted Wines. Her brand has had several evolutions since she started her entrepreneurial journey, but she has found her niche and now she is crushing it. And not because her business is easy to sell, or that it’s a desirable product. No, not at all.
It’s because she is hustling. She is taking massive action day in and day out and she is not giving up until she gets the results she wants. Melyssa is putting herself out there, she is taking risks, trying new things and seeing major results.
It’s impressive and admirable.
And let’s not forget that she is also holding down a family of four with that style and grace we all want. She is the epitome of someone who is taking massive action in her life and killing it!
Take Action
Here is the thing guys. We can all say we want to do something or achieve something. But if we don’t actually take the action needed to make it happen, well it only ever stays a dream.
A lot of coaches will talk about manifesting dreams into reality and while I am a strong believer in the power of the right mindset, you can’t just manifest a million dollars in your bank account without actually working for it.
Think of it in these terms. If you want to lose weight, you can’t just manifest that into happening. You ask yourself what you need to do. And the answer is you have to change your diet, implement an exercise program, drink more water and get more sleep.
You have to take action to make it happen.
And it’s no different if you want to launch a business, find a husband, learn a new skill or become an Instagram influencer, the list can go on and on.
You have to take action.
How To Turn Dreams Into Reality
So what are some ways we can all take action and get us closer to making our dreams a reality? (Vision board party anyone?? If you are interested, shoot me a note, I am considering hosting one and would love to have you join me!)
Here is what I am going to do, what I do with all of my clients and what you can do to take the action you need to make your life what you want it to be.
Define Success. Get crystal clear on what you want. Create the vision for your life and don’t be afraid to dream big. I’m talking dream up everything and everything you could ever want. Ask yourself what this life should look like? Sound like? Smell like? Get laser focused on what your life could be.
Map out your goals. Identify more tangible things you want to happen that help you achieve that vision, to feel that success. You want a Chanel Bag? Well, then you need some financial goals to get you closer to buying it!
Create a plan with a timeline. Proper planning prevents poor performance. I love that saying and I love creating a good plan. What’s it going to take to buy that Chanel? Figure out exactly what you need to do in order to get that bag. How much money do you have to make? Exactly how many clients do you need to make that money? How many people do you need to reach out to in order to book those clients? Work the numbers and work backwards! It’s easier to know where you need to go when you know exactly where you want to finish.
Find an accountability partner. Find someone who can hold you to it! Want to be an Instagram Influencer? Find someone who can tell you when your posts are lacking or ask you what your plan is for Stories and lives or perhaps they are someone who can snap your pictures for you! Seek out someone who can motivate you and inspire you. This could be a coach or maybe a colleague or even a friend who has similar goals or who wants to help you.
Do It! And finally, the most simple, yet hardest step. Start. Start your plan and don’t stop. Don’t stop when it gets hard, or uncomfortable or if you get negative feedback. Do it and don’t look back or sideways or at what anyone else it doing. Focus on your plan and your goals and stay in your lane!
What I am quickly realizing as we approach the holiday season and the start of a new year is that time is flying by. Life is an amazing gift and we really only get one shot at it. I have found myself asking this very question and maybe you can ask yourself as well:
What do I want my life to look like in 2019?
I want mine to be filled with joy, happiness and success. Mainly, I want to be able to say that I went for it. 2019 is going to be my year of action and my year of believing in me. Want to join me??
And remember ladies, you’re not fully dressed until you sparkle!
