A Time of Transition
Fall is upon us and we all know what that means. Pumpkin spice lattes, cute tall boots and some fun bell sleeves are for sure in our future! I am super excited, I just love a statement sleeve!! Who’s with me on that?
But aside from fantastic new fashion, Fall also marks a time of transition. The weather is changing, kids are back to school and families are learning to manage a new schedule of events and activities. It’s an exciting time of year but it can also be busy, stressful and overwhelming!
I certainly know that first hand. We are getting my girls adjusted to their new preschool and dance schedules and I have been working hard to launch my business that I have been dreaming about for the last year! I am home with my girls and as most moms out there know, it’s not an easy task to find the time to launch a business and create a global empire. Yes, a global empire, I dream big friends.ha-ha!
Let’s just say there have been lots of late nights and less sleep than I want! This mama is running on coffee and adrenaline these days!
6 Tips for Managing your Stress
While I wouldn’t change any of it for a second, I did have to create several strategies to help me cope with this new found work load on my plate! After a few weeks of making 6 tactics part of my daily routine something great started to happen. I felt lighter, brighter and more calm!
I’m sharing these tips for you managing your stress with you, so that you too can keep your inner sparkle shining bright! After all, don’t we deserve to feel our best while chasing our dreams and perhaps a toddler or two!
Here are my 6 tips for managing your stress:
#1. Start your Day on a Positive Vibe.
Daily affirmations can be life changing. Each morning when you wake up, before you do anything, yes even before you check Facebook, recite your affirmations out loud. If you aren’t familiar with affirmations, they are short statements that set your intentions for the day and your life.
Some of my favorites include: Today I will go through my day with an open heart and a clear mind. I am worth it.Always. The success I have is well deserved. There is so much good in my life and I am open to more good coming to me. Those positive statements just get me up and excited to start my day. I refuse to let negativity creep into my mind. Especially not before a shower and coffee!
#2. Smile Often.
“When your smiling, the world smiles with you!” It’s such true statement. Smiles are contagious and can lift someone up when they are feeling down, yourself included. They improve mood and can even retrain your brain to think more positively! Putting a smile on also can relieve stress, make you more attractive, make you appear more trustworthy and increase your productivity levels. Plus, a smile never goes out of fashion!
#3. Get Moving!
Taking the time to exercise is super important for everyone! Spending some time each day on your own physical well being will boost your mood, reduce stress and anxiety and help with depression. Not to mention it boosts self-esteem and confidence and sends a message to the universe that you love yourself enough to take care of your body!
#4. Be Kind to Yourself.
Despite what you see on social media, I promise you, no-one is perfect! It’s totally fine if you feed your kids chicken nuggets every night for a week or if you accidentally send your kid to dance with her patent leather dress shoes and not her tap shoes. I did that just last week! Ironically I was wearing a shirt that day that said, “Killing It”. Trust me when I tell you I did NOT feel like I was “killing it” in that moment. BUT, I forgave myself, laughed it off and moved on with the day. Things happen and the more you can forgive yourself and move on, the happier and better your days will be!
#5. Ask for Help.
This one is huge. I don’t know about you, but it certainly is one of the hardest for me to do. If you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed it’s ok to say to your partner, “hey I need some help tonight with…”fill in the blank. If you can’t do that, reach out to a friend to see if they can grab your kids so you can make that doctors appt you’ve been putting off for months. Or call your Business Coach and work through whatever issue is impacting your ability to move forward in your business. Seeking out help will reduce your overwhelm and help you feel connected and supported.
#6. Stop Comparing.
Be proud of who you are and what you are doing. We all have our ups, we all have our downs. It’s super easy to compare ourselves to others and think we fall short in a million different areas of our lives. Social Media is a huge culprit in that comparison. What you have to remember is that most people are sharing their highlight reel, the best moments of their days and lives. Very few people actual show the behind the scenes!!
I spent way to much energy on comparison and I can promise you this – it gets you nowhere. I can almost guarantee that while you are looking at someone else and wishing you had what they did, there is someone on this earth looking at you and wishing for your life! So instead of worrying about what others have, be thankful for what you do have and work on a plan to get yourself where you want to be. A little bit of gratitude and a lot of hard work can change so much in your life and opens doors you never imagined would open!
There you have it. My top 6 tips for reducing stress and increasing the joy in life. I hope you are able to take one, some, or all of these strategies and apply them to your own life! I would love to hear how they work for you, so please do keep me posted.
And remember ladies, you are not fully dressed until you sparkle!!
